| Amanda Zula Collins was born 8 October 1867 in Leesville, Texas, and died 14 November 1960 in San Antonio, Texas. Her faher deserted her mother when Zula was 18 year old and the family had to do manual labor in the fields to exist. Zula married Jarvis Dale 9 May 1889 at Mill Creek near Seguin, Texas. Jarvis and Zula lived on the property inherited from his parents on Mill Creek that was known as "Hard Scramble." This property included a one room rock cabin. As their family grew, they aDded more rooms. As their family and home grew, they purchased second hand furniture from Seguin. This furniture had beeen brouht to the Texas from Germany and included an organ for the children to play. Their older children attended school (Dale School) at Upper M<ill Creek through the year 1905. This was the year that the family moved to Kingsbury, Texas, and lived there during the years 1906-07. After these years, the family moved to Blanco, Texas in 1908. The family kept hogs, chickens, milk cows and horses on their land in Blanco. Seven chioldren grew up and married in their home in Blanco. Both Zula and Jarvis are buried in Blanco, Texas.
