| Henryetta Josephine Chenowth was born 19 March 1853, the fourth child of Agnes C Pickett and Edmond Bean Chenowth. The Picket and Chenowth farms were next to one another just west of Hindsville, Arkansas. Larkin Harry Manes worked as a farm hand on one or both of these farms. Henryett married Larkin 9 July 1868. This was a double wedding conducted by the Justice of Peace Jim Sanders. Henryetta's aunt Margaret Chenowth was married at the same time to Joe Johnson. Henryetta and Larkin had four children, the oldest being Edmund Victor Manes. In 1878, the family moved to Grapevine, Texas, and later (1894) to Dallas. Henryetta (according to Chas. V. Manes, Sr.) alwsys had a regal bearing. Since Henryetta came from the elite Chenowth family lines and her husband Larkin Harry Manes was only a "dirt" farmer, she may have intentionally or uniuntentinally looked down upon the Manes lines. Henryetta died in Dallas 14 June 1932.
