| Samuel Posey Gipson was born 9 May 1830 in Mc Minn? County, Tn. His father was Thoma Davis Gipson and his mother's maiden name was Henrietta Martin. Both were born in North Carolina. Samuel listed his occupation as a farmer.His first wife was Julina Stoddard. They were married 16 July 1849. Julina died 12 September 1853. His second wife was Nancy Stoddard and they were married 15 July 1854. Nancy died 13 September 1854. His third wife was Asenath Edington who was born 1830 in Tennessee. She died 21 October 1909 in Guymon, Texas County, Oklahoma. Five Children were the result of this marriage: Sarah Louise (b. 1 June 1857); Henrietta (b. 22 June 1859); Margaret (b. 17 November 1861); William (b. 29 July 1864); Christopher (b. 2 February 1870). Sarah Louise and Henrietta were born in Mc Minn? County, Tennessee. Margaret, William and Christopher were born in Missouri. Sarah Louise died 9 June 1948. Samuel Posey married a fourth time to Rachel (Davis) Benton 30 October 1912.
Samuel Gipson enrolled 16 September 1863 in Springfield Missouri with the Missouri Volunteers for one year in the 48th Regiment of Missouri.
Samuel Posey Gipson died 1 March 1926 at age 95. He was buried in Guymon, Oklahoma.
