| Sarah Louise Gipson was born 1 June 1857 in Athens, Mc Minn? County, Tennessee. She married James Knox Polk Davis 20 October 1872 in Leasburg, Crawford County, Missouri. There were twelve children: the oldest was Margaret Melinda Davis, born 8 August 1875 in Bourbon, Crawford County, Missouri. The youngest was Lois Gertrude Davis, born 14 October 1896 in Sabathany, Parker County, Texas.
The Davis family moved from Missouri to Springtown, Parker County, Texas about 1884, Part of the family moved later to Cherokee lands in Oklahoma, and other members of the Davis and Manes families visited them often.
The Davis family members were in constant touch with one another, frequently visiting with each other. For example, Harry Larkin Manes would several times each year drive from Eastland, Texas, to pick up his mother Margaret Melinda (Davis) Manes in East Dallas and drive her to Bluff Dale for a week to ten-day visit with her sisters and brothers in that area.
Sarah Louise and her daughter Margaret Melinda paid two visits by bus from Stephenville, Texas, to Abilene, Texas to see the Chas. V. Manes, Sr.family. Chas. V. at that time was an instructor in Economics at Hardin Simmons University, Abilene, Texas.
Sarah Louise died 9 June 1948 in Guymon, Oklahoma.
